Legal Recruiting
Banks & Watson seeks lawyers of outstanding ability and character who seek to handle sophisticated transactional and litigation matters in a small, boutique firm setting. A key difference in employment with Banks & Watson vis-à-vis other firms is the responsibility we give our associates. Young lawyers are not limited by their years of practice or pigeon-holed in one practice area. They may be given substantial responsibility for a particular client’s work, albeit under close supervision. This approach provides young lawyers with deep experience and an opportunity to learn the intricacies of that client’s business. We believe that lawyers with a broad base of experience are best suited to meet our clients’ needs. Our associates are discouraged from becoming too specialized and instead work where needed on all of the firm’s matters. An associate may find himself or herself working on an appellate brief one day, drafting a commercial lease the day following and advising a lawyer-client on an ethics question after that.
All lawyers are trained in all aspects of trial and appellate work and in the intricacies of structuring complex commercial transactions. Work at our firm is demanding, but collegial. Most of the firm’s attorneys meet bi-monthly over a long lunch to discuss case status and to exchange ideas. Not infrequently, when a litigation matter or transaction presents unique challenges, all of the firm’s attorneys will meet to discuss possible approaches.
The firm offers associates an attractive compensation and benefits package. Salaries for qualified associates are extremely competitive. In addition, the firm offers medical insurance, a 401K plan, a cafeteria plan, and numerous other benefits. Employees are also offered an attractive number of vacation days and paid firm holidays in recognition of the need to strike a proper balance between work and personal life.

Administrative Staff Recruiting
Our success is in large part due to the high quality of our administrative staff. We seek to attract and retain highly qualified individuals to serve as legal secretaries, paralegals and in other administrative support positions. Firm staff work “hand-in-glove” with the firm’s lawyers to assist them in providing legal services to our clients with the very highest levels of skill and efficiency. We value professional development and recognize the importance of on-going training for all employees. New employees are provided with an extensive orientation when they commence work at the firm. In addition, on-going continuing education and training opportunities are made available to all firm employees. We provide an attractive and comfortable office environment and have an abiding commitment to investing in state-of-the-art technology to enhance the work life of all employees. We offer an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package and a number of paid holiday and vacation days in recognition that life exists outside the law.
